Croydon’s vision is to be recognised as London’s most enterprising borough. In addition to its ambitious programme to renew and improve the borough’s infrastructure and office offer, Croydon continues to work with a broad range of private and public sector partners to support its small and medium sized business community. The Mayor of London has earmarked a £5m Regeneration Fund for Croydon to encourage office renewal, inward investment, business retention and to create a new innovation centre aimed at high growth businesses.
The council is working with to deliver projects such as the Croydon Enterprise Loan Fund, a scheme that is managed by GLE OneLondon to aid the growth of SMEs and start-ups in Croydon by providing loans from £2,001 to £25,000. The Business Rates Relief Scheme through which SMEs proposing to occupy premises in Croydon’s new town with a rateable value of £12,500 are offered tapered financial assistance over three years and Built to Compete, a project that is assisting Croydon SMEs to bid for and win contracts by helping them to develop key policies and procedures, develop bid and tender writing skills and bring together major buyers with the SMEs of Croydon.
